Stephen L. Lewis-Johnson, 66, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013, in the peace and comfort of his home surrounded by love and compassion. Stephen was born December 3, 1946, in Oceanport, NJ, son of Edwin "Les" and Helen (Siffren) Johnson. He graduated in Guilford High School's first graduating class in 1964 and attended Rock Valley College, earning an Associate Degree. Stephen served in the U. S. Air Force 1966 to 1970 and completed a tour of duty in Vietnam.
He was employed for over thirty years as a tool and die maker for Amerock Corporation before his retirement. Stephen loved creating and making things with his hands as well as fishing, kayaking, Skeet shooting, bicycling, reading and traveling. People were inspired by the life experiences he shared, such as his memories of Vietnam and his passion for his Scandinavian heritage. Stephen will be missed by his friends and family.

The family would like to thank the staff of Northern Illinois Hospice and especially Tara for the kindness and comfort given to Stephen.

Survivors include son, Stephen Ragsdale; daughter, Stephanie Ragsdale; brother, Doug (Mira) Johnson; nephew, Luka Johnson; special people, Uncle Jer, Kevin, Denny, Amanda, Jane, Debi and Cathe.
Predeceased by parents.
Visitation and Memorial Service will start at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, in the chapel of Cremation Society of Illinois, 6825 Weaver Road. A private burial will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Stephen's name may be directed to Companion Animal Clinic, c/o Stephen Johnson's cats, 536 E. Riverside Blvd., Loves Park, IL 61111.
