Jesse Burton 'Burt' Alexander Sr, 83, of Rockford left this world on Friday, July 26, 2013, in the arms of his beloved wife of 63 years, Barbara. Jesse was born October 31, 1929, in Bicknell, IN, son of Jesse and Ruby (Overton) Alexander. He married Barbara Giggleman on April 15, 1950, in South Carolina. Burt enjoyed video gaming and going to the casino, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was an extremely proud veteran having served in the US Navy aboard the U.S.S. Jeffers during the Korean War. He sailed to many ports of the world and shared stories about each and every port he visited with his children.
Survivors include wife, Barbara; children, Richard (Pam) Alexander and Vicky Alexander Tribble; grandchildren, Brandon and Elizabeth Elmer, Ted and Melissa Jendusa, Amy Moore, Jennifer Tribble, Dusty Britton, Corey and Cindy Carlson, Nick, Ashley and Abby Alexander, Jesse Burton Alexander III and Justin Alexander; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Ben Britton, Lauren Jendusa and Levi Elmer; brother, Claude Alexander; daughter-in-law, Anna Alexander.
Predeceased by parents, daughter, Roberta 'Robin' Moore, son, Jesse Burton 'Jay'Alexander Jr., brothers, Robert and Billy Alexander and son-in-law, Jerry Tribble.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2013, at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Cremation Society of Illinois, 6825 Weaver Road with Pastor Lester McClelland officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. till time of service. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Cremation Society of Illinois assisted the family.
