Henry E.Hines Jr. was born February 13,1915 in Paduach Kentucky to Bessie and Henry Hines Sr. Growing up Henry always appreciated fine quality clothing. Regal and debonair, but highly responsible he never wanted to rely on his parents for money. Henry worked many jobs , including one for the owner of a Coca Cola Franchise - as a house boy. As he left work one evening, Henry's boss complimented him on his wrap around coat, remarking that he had one like it. He then gave his coat to Henry. Well, you know Henry's confident demeanor. At that moment, he decided to leave his job, "You can't dress as well as your boss".

Next Henry worked at the railroad Shops. Ultimately his night - time social schedule caused him to be caught napping on the job, so Henry picked up and moved on, August 1943, Henry was called to active duty for the U.S.Army, where he honorably served until Feb. 1946. His service included several tours overseas. After the army, Henry returned home and worked for the Illinois Central Railroad. Finally, after being called "George" so many times, Henry left Paduach and came to Chicago where he worked for the New York Central Railroad ( Now called Amtrak).
