Fred Fischer, 78, of Rockford moved on to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 11, 2013. Fred was born in New York City and grew up in Connecticut. He met his wife in Illinois while serving in the Air Force. A long time resident of Illinois, Fred worked many years as an electronics specialist at Warner Lambert. He was a proud handyman and gardener and had special appreciation for all God's creatures, especially his pets.
He was a loving husband of 52 years to wife, Joyce; dedicated father to Steve (Lesa) Fischer, Mark (Lisa) Fischer and daughter, Laurie (Kory) Billingsley; grandfather to Megan, Chase, Ian, Cole, Maddie and Sam.
A Memorial Service celebrating Fred's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, in the chapel of Cremation Society of Illinois, 6825 Weaver Road, Rockford, IL, with a Memorial Visitation from 1:00 p.m. till time of service. Pastor Ron Lindner will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Fred's name may be directed to Heartland Hospice, 6885 Vistagreen Way, Rockford, IL 61107.
Cremation Society of Illinois assisted the family.
