Only son of the late Jesse Smith and Fannie Beatrice Smith (nee McNease).

Nephew of Louise (the late Ralph) Sussewell, Lucy (the late Andrew) Liddel, Vera Goodwin, and Theodore "Teddy" McNease; brother-in-law of Ethel, Patricia, Hope, Clinton, Jr., and Shirley Linzy.

Cousin and friend of many.
